Minnesota Disc Golf League
The Rules
It's all about the rules and fun... but mostly rules.
Be a Good Dude. Self-explanatory. When in doubt, be a good dude.
Family First. Life comes before disc golf. Always.
Thursdays Are for the Dudes. With exceptions — see above.
Gameplay Rules
- No splashing chains. Disc must leave your hand and settle in the basket.
- CTP is closest to the pin — even if it's OB.
- First in matters. After that, fire at will.
- No stroke penalty for OB or water. Throw it where it lays if safe, or move to last inbound spot.
- Dude #1's card goes out first.
- Miss a mando? You must rewind and go back around. No drop zone or abandoned lie.
- MO2: Basket and above.
- MO1: Pole counts.
- Be on time and ready to play.
- Ready golf is the name of the game — especially later in the season. See the Ready Golf page.
- Everyone looks for missing discs. We're all in this together.
- Shabang rules: Don't call it until it's official. Use it before the following hole — no stalking or delaying play. Mind non-Dudes while shabanging.
- Conversations will happen. Don't expect silence while throwing. But don't purposefully distract others on your card.
- The 500 Point Snip: After 500 Dude Points for the season, Greg gets to snip you — no more CTP or First In points. Exception: Hog Rounds.
- When not overridden by Dudes rules, see the PDGA Rules.
Hog Round Rules
🏆 Monthly Hog Round
- Cards are made by average Dude Points per round. The Hog Card goes out first, with the highest average in spot one.
- After the round: Total up Dude Points earned. Highest total gets to carry the Hog Disc for the month and sign it.
- All other cards compete for the Birdie Disc. Most deuces wins.
- Tiebreakers: 1) MO2s, 2) CTP on Hole 1 (shorts if possible).
Card Order & Scoring
After cards are made (unless it's a Hog Round):
- Lowest Dude number gets spot #1 and first dibs at scoring the card.
- They can refuse and voluntold another player on the card.
- Rest of the card is in Dude order as well.
Calling your score: Give your score and Dude Points together.

Tie-Breaker Philosophy
When in doubt for CTP or First In and there isn't a quorum on the card, give it to the player with the least season points.
See Rule 2. It's just funny money.
Scrambles
Partner selection is done by average — highest average player picks their partner first, then the next available highest average, and so on down the list.
